Shri Prashant Kumar Das assumed the charge as Ambassador of India to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea on April 29, 2024. Before the present assignment, he was holding the charge as the Consul General of India in Phuentsholing (Bhutan). He is a member of Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
He has worked in various capacities in Government of India, both at Indian Missions abroad and Headquarters. Besides serving as Consul General of India in Phuentsholing, he has had diverse assignments at Indian Missions/ Posts in different capacities in Lao PDR, Austria, Bangladesh, The Hague, Armenia and Russia. In the Ministry of External Affairs, he has served in West Africa Division dealing with the bilateral matters relating to various West African countries and in SCO Division looking after the multilateral matters relating to SCO Member States and was also the nodal officer for the meeting of SCO Council of Heads of State. He has a vast experience in handling Administration, Commercial, Consular, Bilateral and Multilateral matters.
Ambassador Prashant Kumar Das holds a Master of Science degree in Mathematics. He speaks English, Hindi, Odia and Russian; and also understands Bengali and Punjabi. His interests are sports, yoga, music/singing, movies and poetry.
